Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa (SIHA) Network

Established in 1995 by a coalition of women’s rights activists with the aim of strengthening the capacities of women’s rights organizations and addressing women’s subordination and violence against women and girls in the Horn of Africa, SIHA has grown substantially and is now comprised of 136 member organizations.

A coalition comprised of 200 community-based sections in 32 states and 38 national organizational affiliates that works to enlighten and inspire more than 3,000,000 women and men. Its mission is to lead, advocate for and empower women of African descent, their families and communities.

UNECE Policy for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women: Supporting the SDGs implementation in the UNECE region (2016-2020)

As part of aligning its work with the universal and integrated Agenda 2030, UNECE has updated its Policy for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (2016-2020) to systematically mainstream gender across its substantive areas of work and progress on gender parity in the workplace. The Policy identifies where and how UNECE can best add value given its mandate on gender mainstreaming and promoting gender equality.
